We’re building a global community of supporters – and are engaging in a broad-reaching outreach effort, to spread the word, globally, about our program.
Folks on all 7 Continents are involved (yes, there are some researchers in Antartica who witness, daily, the effects of global environmental degradation, who are in regular contact with us).
Sarita Laughing – This picture tells it all
The World Bank has asked us to allow them to include our photo in a report titled “On Thin Ice: How Cutting Pollution can Slow Warming and Save Lives” (issued on the 3rd of November 2013).
The report “provides an overview of why it is critical to slow the rate of change in the cryosphere; and how accelerating actions to decrease short-lived pollutants from key sectors can make a difference by slowing dangerous changes and risks to development, while improving public health and food security.
“The report looks at the impacts of black carbon on snow and ice regions with some focus on the Himalayas.”
We said “yes” to their request, of course, and are honored to have the results of our efforts showcased by the World Bank.
They have re-titled the picture, “Sarita happy with her cookstove.”
